Frequently Asked Questions

General

We’re a community of like-minded families and farmers seeking to support our local economy, change our broken food system, and live healthy & full lives! You can read more about us here.

A PMA is a private club where people join together because they share common interests, beliefs, and/or goals. Oikos FBC is private, which means it’s not open to everyone – only those who become members can be a part of it. By joining this PMA you gain access to the highest quality food available, as local to SWFL as possible. We do all the vetting of farms and products for you!

As a PMA, we are required to only offer our products and services to members of our association. Paying for a membership makes a clear distinction between those who are members and those who aren’t. Furthermore, the $20 annual fee covers the cost of bringing your farm fresh goodies to one of our convenient pickup locations for no additional fee.

Yes! You can edit your cart until Monday at midnight. As long as you have checked out once during the week, your order will be updated.

Delivery & Pickup

Delivery is a flat $15 for orders less than $150. The delivery fee is waived for orders greater than $150.

Orders for ‘home delivery’ will be delivered on Fridays between 8:00 am – 6:00 pm. Occasionally, a situation arises where we need to deliver on Thursday. If that is the case, you will be notified via email at least 48 hrs prior to your delivery.

We ask that you provide a cooler outside your door just in case we miss you. Our driver will provide their ETA to your location via text when they are en route. If you’re not home, the driver will attempt to contact you and wait 10 minutes before leaving. The driver will use his/her discretion on whether to leave your items or not. If we are not able to deliver, you may need to pay for perishable items like produce and another delivery fee if you want your order delivered the following week. These instances are handled on a case by case basis.

Dairy

While neither of our dairy farms have had their milk tested, both Jersey Acres and Joash Dairy exclusively use Jersey Cows which have a higher percentage of A2 genes compared to other breeds.

Raw dairy is in extremely high-demand and sells out quickly. We have higher inventory during the cooler months (Nov. – May) when the grass is more nutritious and there is less heat stress on the cows. We replenish our dairy inventory every other Tuesday morning so Tuesday afternoon is the best day to check for availability.

Like a four-leafed clover, the raw cream is difficult to get our hands on. We ask for it with every order and either get ‘0’ or just a fraction of what we ask for. It sells out extremely quickly.

There are times, particularly in the summer, when we are only able to project how much dairy we will receive. When this happens, we do our best to predict how much milk we will have to sell. If we over-projected our inventory in relation to what we received then your dairy order might not be fulfilled.

We fulfill orders by order number. In other words, “First come, first served”.

Typically, an unopened gallon of raw from Joash Dairy will last at least two weeks although we have had them last longer. Once opened, you’ll want to consume within one week.

Beef

Yes. All of the meat that we source for the club is vaccine, hormone, antibiotic, & steroid free.

All cuts will be individually labeled and vacuum sealed.

Produce

Yes. While all most all of our small scale farmers aren’t certified USDA organic (due to cost and other reasons) they are growing produce in a manner that is ‘beyond organic’. In other words, they are above and beyond the minimum requirements set forth by the USDA.

Since we don’t import vegetables from out of state, you are buying only what is available locally and in season. We only source locally grown, organic produce from farmers we know and trust. Vegetable season begins in November and tapers off in May. During the summer months we have no vegetables to offer as they aren’t being grown locally.
